በሳለፍነው እሁድ በመዲናይቱ ሃራሬ በተካሔደ አንደ የቤተክርስቲያን የገቢ ማሰባሰቢያ ዝግጅት ላይ በክብር እንግደነት የተገኙት የ 91 አመቱ ጉምቱ የአፍሪካ ሕብረት የወቅቱ ዋና ጸሃፊ ፕ/ት ሙጋቤ “እግዜአብሔር በአለማችን ላይ እጅግ የረቀቁ ፣ የሞተ ሰው ሳይቀር የሚገፍፍፉ ሌቦች የሆኑት ኬኔያዎችን መፍጠር አለነበረበትም።” ሲሉ በጎረቤት ኬነያ ሕዝብ ላይ የቃላት ጦርነት አሰምተዋል።
ሙጋቤ ትችታቸውን ሲያራዘሙ “እነዚህ የምስራቅ አፍሪካ ሰዎች(ኬኔያዎች) አንዳንዴ ነገረ ስራቸው ያሸማቅቀኛል፣አንዳንድ ጊዜ ሰመለከታቸው ሰርቆት በደም ሰራቸው ወስጥ የተዋሃደ የመሰለኛል፣ ግማሹ የአገሬው ህዝብ ሰርቆትን ነው የተካነው ፣እነዚህ ስዎች (ከኔያዎች ) ወደ ትምህርት ቤት ሔደው ሊማሩ እና ሊያነቡ ይችሉ ነበር፣ ነገር ግን እነርሱ በሰርቆት ነው የተካኑት ።እነደውም እንዳንድ ጊዜ ኬኔያ ውስጥ በባችለር ዲግሪ የሚያሰመርቅ የሌብነት ተቋም እና የሌብነት ኮርስ ያለ ይመሰለኛል።ኬነያዎች ሰራ ሲያገኙ አያማረሩም ምክንያቱም አንዴ እግራቸው እና አንገታቸው ከገባ የተገኘውን ገንዘብ ጠራርገው እንደሚወሰዱት ያውቃሉ ፣ቤታሰሩ እንኳን ነጻነታቸውን ወዲያውኑ እንደሚያሰመልሱ እርግጠኞች ናቸው ።ሌላው ቀርቶ ዳኛው እንኳን የሌቦቹን ያህል ጉልበት የለውም(በገንዘብ ያንበረክኩታል) ።” ያሉት ፕ/ት ሙጋቤ የዙምባብዊ ዜጎች በአጋጣሚ ወደ ኬንያ ጎራ ካሉ እራሳቸውን ከኬኒያዎች እንዲጠብቁ መክር መሰጠታቸወን( ዘ ሰፔክታተርሰ )ተሰኘው ድህረ ገጽ በህዳር 4 2015 አኤአ ዘግቦታል።”ዙምባቤዎች ታማኞች እና አገራችውን የሚያፈቅሩ ናቸው፣ አደራ የኬንያዊያኖች የሰርቆት በሽታ እንዳይተላፈባችሁ ጠንቀቅ በሉ።” በማለት ሙጋቤ ተናግረዋል ተብሏል።
ፕ/ት ሙጋቤ አልፎ አልፎ በሚናገሯቸው ነግግሮች የሚዲያ ተኩረት ከሚሰቡ ጥቂት የአለማችን መሪዎች ተረታ የሚካተቱ ሲሆን በአንደ ወቅት የቀደሞው የደቡብ አፍሪካው ፕ/ት ኔልሰን ማንዴላን ” ለቐኝ ገዢዎች ከመጠን በላይ ጻድቅ የሆኑ መሪ ናቸው “በማለት ወርፈዋቸው ነበር። በሌላ ጊዜም ጃማይካኖችንም እንዲሁ “ ወንዶቻቸው በጋንጃ/ሱረት እና በጭፈራ ያበዱ፣ የከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋሞቻቸው በሴቶች ብቻ የተጨናነቁ ናቸው። አብካችሁ እንደ ጃማይካኖች አትሁኑ ።”ሲሉ ለአገራቸ ህዝብ መናገራቸው ተደምጧል።
ፕ/ት ሙጋቤ በዚህ ብቻ አላበቁም ከዚህ ቀደም የእንግሊዙ ጠ/ሚ/ር ቶኔ ብልየርን “በ አገራችን የውስጥ ጉዳይ ጣልቃ አትግቡ በተረፈ ገሃነም/ሴኦል መገባት ትችላላችሁ”ብለዋቸዋል። የ ሃያሏ አገር አሜሪካ ፕ/ት ባራክ ኦባማ በቅርቡ በ 50 ግዛቶች ውስጥ የተመሳሳይ ጾታ ጋብቻን/ግበረሰዶማዊነትን በመፍቀዳቸው የተቆጡት የካቶሊክ እምነት ተከታዩ ፣አዛወንቱ ፡የነጻነት አርበኛው እና የዙምባብዊ መሪ ሙጋቤ”ወደ ነጩ የዋይት ሃውስ ቤተመንግስታቸው ተጉዤ ኦባማ እኔን እንዲያገቡኝ ተንበርክኬ አጠይቃለሁ።” ሲሉ ማሾፋቸውን በርካታ የምእራባዊያን የዜና አውትሮች በጊዜው ለዜናቸው ማጣፈጫነት ተጠቅመውበታል።
ታዲያ ሰሞነናውን የሙጋቤን አነጋገር ያዳመጡ ኬኒያዊያኖች እና ዙምባቤዎች የተለያዩ የደጋፍ እና የነቀፊታ አሰተያየቶችን በመሰጠት ላይ ሲሆኑ ከእነርሱም መካከል “ ሙጋቤ የራሳቸወን ቤት ሳይጸዱ /ኢኮኖሚያቸውን ሳይጠግኑ ሰለሌላ ቤት ምን አዘባረቃቸው? ፣ ሙጋቤ ታላቅ ሰው ናቸው ፣ የሙጋቤ አነጋገር በ አንድ ጎሳ የበላይነት ለምትናጠው ለኢትዮጵያ፣ በአምባገነኖች ለሚረገጡት ለ አነ ኡጋንዳ እና ለጅቡቲ፣ በሃይማኖት ለተተበተቡት ለታንዛኒያዎች ወዘተ (የምስራቅ አፍሪካ አገሮች) ጥሩ መልእክት ነው ያሉት አልጠፉም።
በነገራችን ላይ በጎረቤቶቻችን በኬኔዎች ላይ የሰላ ትችት በመሰጠት ደረጃ ሙጋቤ የመጀመሪያው አይደሉም የአሜሪካው እጩ ፕ/ት ሪፐብሊካኑ ዶናልድ ትራምፕ ባለፈው ሳምንት ሰለኬንያ ሲናገሩ “ በኬንያ ውስጥ ሁሉም ሰው ሌባ ነው።ሰለዚህ በመጪው 2016 የአሜሪካ ፕ/ት ሆኘ ከተመረጥኩ ሁሉንም ኬነያዎችን ከምደረ አሜሪካ ጠራሪጌ አሰወጣልሁ።” ሲሉ ከወዲሁ ዝተዋል ሲል ጀኔያን ዳይሊይ ፖስት በሳምንቱ መጀመሪያ ላይ አሰነብቧል።

GABORONE (Reuters) – Botswana wants 10 Eritrean soccer players it granted asylum to to be resettled in another country by the United Nations, as under Bostwana law they must stay in a refugee camp for 10 years.

A government official said the southern African nation was not withdrawing asylum for the players but giving them a chance to seek refuge in a country where the resettlement process was faster.

The players claimed asylum on Oct. 13 after playing the match against Botswana, becoming the latest in a series of defections by athletes from a country under investigation by the United Nations for human rights violations.

“We are not saying we don’t want them here,” Botswana’s deputy permanent secretary in the ministry of defence, justice and security, Augustine Makgonatsotlhe, told Reuters.

“They certainly cannot go back to Eritrea and the law here requires a refugee to have stayed here for at least 10 years for them to be integrated into the society. The only option is for the UNHCR to seek an alternative host country.”

Makgonatsotlhe said the players could apply to get out of the camp as long as they could sustain themselves, but ordinarily most refugees who have no hope of securing employment are not allowed to leave the camps.

Angolan refugees who fled years of civil war that ended in 2003 have been stuck at the camps for years, the official said.

Pretoria based UNHCR spokeswoman Tina Ghelli said the players had three options: voluntary repatriation to their home country; receiving alternative status, such as citizenship or permanent residence, or resettlement to a third country.

Ghelli said the decision to refer these refugees to a resettlement country would be based on individual assessments of the player’s cases and whether they meet specific criteria.

Botswana did not set a deadline for the UNHCR to respond, she said.

The soccer players are being housed in the Dukwi refugee camp about 500 km (310 miles) east of the capital, Gaborone

Mogadishu AFP- Four Iranian fishermen have been freed in Somalia after security forces rescued them from a pirate gang, security officials said on Thursday.

Local elder Mohamed Moalim Abdirahman said the men appeared “healthy” despite their ordeal, but that the pirate gang still held as many as nine other hostages, all believed to be from Iran.

“Security forces rescued four Iranians who have been held hostage by pirates,” said Abdirahman Mohamed, a security official in central Somalia’s Galgadud region.

“Two of the kidnapers were arrested during the raid on a house where they held the victims,” Mohamed added.

It was not immediately clear when the crew were seized by pirates, or which vessel they came from.

Piracy peaked in 2011, when Somali pirates held over 700 hostages, but rates of attacks have tumbled, prompted partly by the posting of armed guards on boats and navy patrols.

Two Iranian fishing boats were seized in March near Ceel Hur in central Somalia, but one boat escaped in August – although it was not clear if all the crew were freed at that time.
In May, an Iranian fishing boat and its crew were taken hostage after entering the small port of El-Dheer in Galgadud for repairs.

Experts have warned that rampant illegal fishing by foreign trawlers off Somalia is threatening economic gains, and could push communities back to maritime crime.

A September report by Secure Fisheries, a part of the One Earth Future Foundation campaign group, warned those advances could be reversed if illegal fishing is not stemmed.

While illegal fishing was used by many pirates as an excuse for attacks – which saw an array of vessels seized including yachts, oil tankers and container ships – the issue could encourage a fresh round of piracy.

The government in Somalia’s northern Puntland region has seized several boats in recent months they accuse of illegal fishing.

BBC-Ethiopia’s prime minister has told the BBC he is not afraid of criticism from journalists, despite the country’s reputation for stifling free speech.

“Free media is very essential for the democratic process and… development,” Hailemariam Desalegn said.
He insisted some bloggers and reporters arrested last year were not real journalists and had terror links.
Charges of terrorism have been dropped against all of the so-called Zone 9 bloggers.
Five were freed in July after more than a year in jail ahead of US President Barack Obama’s visit; the other four were acquitted of terrorism charges by a court last month.
The Zone 9 website had carried pieces critical of the government.
But Mr Hailemariam said that their profession had not prompted their arrests, rather evidence linking them to groups wanting to destabilise the government.
“This has to be very clearly underlined because that shouldn’t be confused with the noble profession, journalism and the work that journalists do in this country,” he told BBC World Service Africa editor Mary Harper.
“We are ready to be criticised by any journalists because we know we are not perfect,” he said.
The diversity of Ethiopia meant that democracy and human rights were central to its survival and success.
“There is a a young, dynamic population in this country, with all the social media information flow – so without democratic discourse it’s not possible to continue as a country – we believe we’re on the right track.”
Ethiopia and al-Shabab:
Ethiopian troops have been helping Somalia’s government fight al-Shabab and Mr Hailemariam said the Islamist militant group was “now diminishing”.
Concern now centred on how the Somali-based group, which is aligned with al-Qaeda, might become linked with so-called Islamic State (also known as Isil) and other groups.
Ethiopia was working with the global community, including countries in the Middle East, “to control Isil’s infiltration in Somalia and al-Shabab”, he said.
“But this is a very tricky job and we have to be very careful and be vigilant in this regard.”
China’s slow-down:
Ethiopia has been enjoying rapid economic growth in recent years and also enjoys a close relationship with China.
The prime minister said any decline in the global economy, be it in the European Union – Ethiopia’s biggest export market – or China did not affect the country too badly as private sector investment was the main focus of its economy.
Cheaper labour costs in Ethiopia could be an advantage in such an environment.
“More manufacturing can relocate from China to Ethiopia so it’s an advantage in that sense,” he said.
Eritrean migrants:
Eritreans are among the largest groups of people trying to get into Europe, along with Syrians, Afghans and Iraqis.
The international community should press for change in Eritrea if it wants to prevent Europe’s migrant crisis from worsening, Ethiopia’s leader said in the BBC interview.
“The regime is putting all the young people into concentration and military camps in the name of military service – this has to stop,” he said.
Ethiopia and Eritrea remain bitter rivals since a bitter 1998-2000 border war that killed some 70,000 people.
Mr Hailemariam said his government was ready to support Eritreans fleeing by providing education, training, and in some cases jobs, but he added that Ethiopians already had problems of their own.
Eritrea’s ambassador to the UN Girma Asmerom dismissed Mr Hailemariam’s claim of a link between military service and migration as “pathetic and ridiculous”.
He told the BBC Focus on Africa radio programme that Ethiopia should deal with its own internal problems first.
“There are 15 million Ethiopians in need of food assistance and thousands of people are fleeing the country.”

He was also asked about a BBC proposal to introduce a news service for Eritrea and Ethiopia on medium- and short-wave radio.
Details of the suggestion, which would need UK government approval, are not known.
“I am not sure what kind of services you’re going to launch, but my concern is that you have labelled Ethiopia with some countries like North Korea, so that’s a very dangerous move and I think we oppose that.”

A plus-size model has shed 200 lbs after being told that she had to buy a second seat on an airplane because she was too large to fit into a single one.

Rosie Mercado, 35, from Los Angeles, was tipping the scales at 410lbs when she had her turning point moment on a red-eye flight from Las Vegas to New York in June 2011.

‘Ma’am, you are not going to fit into one seat. You need to purchase another fare,’ the flight attendant told her, a statement which she admits left her in tears.
The situation Rosie found herself in that day was a result of a combination of comfort eating through stressful periods in her life, as well as making plenty of bad decisions.

‘I made some very poor choices, opting for fast food like McDonald’s burgers and supersize fries rather than fruits and vegetables,’ she told New York Post. ‘My health was low priority, and it was affecting everything I did, especially spending quality time with my kids.’

Rosie’s curves had in other ways been an asset for her in the past. She competed in plus-size beauty pageants and appeared on reality TV show Curvy Girls on NuvoTV in 2011.
Blessed with a beautiful face, lofty cheekbones and a defined jawline, Rosie remembers how modelling agencies were wowed by photos showing the top half of her body, but would quickly lose interest after discovering her measurements – in particular, her 65-inch hips.

The incident on the flight was just the final straw for Rosie. She had already had to pay a nanny to take her children to Disneyland because her weight meant she couldn’t go on rides, and had endured stares and abuse from others for too long.

So, a few months after the incident with the airline, she signed up for a self-help course, Unleash The Power Within, with Tony Robbins and began to really fight her flab for the first time.
She gave up the fast food in favor of lean proteins, fruits and vegetables and began doing regular exercise. She now hits the gym six days per week for an hour per session.

Now, three and a half years later, Rosie is 201lbs, just 21lbs away from her goal weight and sits at a size 16 to 18 – she was previously a size 34. Those 65-inch hips have shrunk down to 48 inches.

‘It has not been the easiest journey, and I’ve had my ups and down,’ she admitted. ‘But, when I compare my quality of life now to how it used to be, I know it was worth it.’
Not only has her relationship with her three children improved – she was recently able to take her kids to Disneyland without the help of a nanny – but work has also begun rolling in.

Rosie signed with Manhattan-based True Model Management back in April 2014 and has since featured in campaigns for plus-size fashion companies igigi.com and Ibbi World.

‘When I was larger, I just wasn’t leading the lifestyle I wanted,’ she said. ‘Now I couldn’t be happier.’

The Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) named Eliud Kipchoge and Mare Dibaba as the male and female winners of the AIMS Best Marathon Runner Award for 2015.

The awards were voted for by AIMS members, made up of more than 390 of the world’s leading and most prestigious distance races from more than 108 countries and territories.

The winners’ achievements were given global recognition on Friday (6) at the AIMS Best Marathon Runner (BMR) Award Gala in Athens, Greece.

Kipchoge has won three of the biggest marathon events in the past 12 months. In October 2014 he won the Chicago Marathon in 2:04:11. Six months later, the 31-year-old Kenyan won the London Marathon in a world-leading time of 2:04:42 before bettering that when winning the Berlin Marathon in September in 2:04:00, beating his personal best by five seconds.

“It is very special for me to have won the AIMS Best Marathon Runner Award,” said Kipchoge. “I am very proud of my achievements this year and this award reflects that.”

Dibaba has enjoyed a medal-laden year. In October 2014 she finished second at the Chicago Marathon in 2:25:37. She went one better by winning the Xiamen Marathon in January 2015 in a time of 2:19:52 before finishing a close second at the Boston Marathon. More recently, the 26-year-old Ethiopian won the world title in Beijing in 2:27:35.

“It is incredibly special for me to receive this prestigious award,” said Dibaba. “It makes it extra special that I have received it in the spiritual home of the marathon in Greece. I am well aware of the 2500-year history of the marathon and I am delighted to feel a small part of it.”

The Obama administration still has time to close the Guantanamo Bay military prison before the president leaves office, the White House said on Friday, adding that it is continuing to work on transferring detainees from the center.

The United States is working to reach agreement with countries around the globe to transfer 53 eligible Guantanamo prisoners from the facility in Cuba, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said, adding that some transfers would take place by the end of the year.

“Absolutely it’s still possible. It’s still something that we are working very hard to accomplish,” Earnest said.

A senior U.S. official told Reuters “there is a very real possibility” that the number of inmates at Guantanamo, now at 112, could be reduced to less than a hundred by the end of the year.

“We’re aiming for this,” the official said, but added that there was no guarantee of hitting that milestone by Dec. 31.

Dozens of children have been killed in fighting in South Sudan, where battles rage despite political deals to end almost two years of civil war, the United Nations has said.

The UN said that fighting in the northern battleground state of Unity has “intensified with grave consequences for civilians” in recent weeks, adding that 40,000 people are also starving to death.

The report by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) released late Friday detailed killings in just one area of Unity state during a two-week period.

It said that in the Leer district of southern Unity, which has swapped hands multiple times between government and rebel forces, at least 80 civilians were killed between October 4 and 22.

Almost three-quarters of those killed were children — at least 57 killed in Leer — while there were more than 50 cases of rape being used as “a weapon of war”, the report said.

ETHNIC MASSACRES

Both sides are accused of having perpetrated ethnic massacres, recruited and killed children and carried out widespread rape, torture and forced displacement of populations to “cleanse” areas of their opponents.

Hunger experts from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) have warned of a “concrete risk of famine” before the end of the year if fighting continues and aid does not reach the hardest-hit areas.

While some aid has reached two districts in Unity — Buaw and Koch — other areas are cut off.

Some 3.9 million people are in critical need of aid — a third of the country’s population and a massive 80 per cent rise compared to the same period last year, the UN said.

Civil war began in December 2013 when President Salva Kiir accused his former deputy Riek Machar of planning a coup, setting off a cycle of retaliatory killings that have split the poverty-stricken, landlocked country along ethnic lines.

The army and rebels have repeatedly accused each other of breaking an internationally-brokered August 26 ceasefire, the eighth such agreement aimed at ending the nearly two-year long war.
