PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A woman who had checked herself into a mental health treatment center in Portland says she was sexually assaulted by another patient.
The Oregonian reports that a 30-year-old man was arraigned in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Wednesday on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse.
According to court documents, the man entered the woman’s room at the Crisis Assessment and Treatment Center on Monday and assaulted her while she was asleep.
The woman reported the attacks to center staff, who contacted police.
During an interview with police, the suspect said he saw the woman napping on her bed and when she rolled in her sleep, he took it as an invitation to join her and have sex with her.
