Lawyer says child marriage is crime
A 12-year-old Egyptian school boy married his 10-year-old relative in a much publicised wedding and relatives described them as the world’s youngest spouses.
Faris Abdul Aziz and his bride Nancy married in a village north of the capital Cairo on Friday and hundreds of guests attended the wedding, which featured music and three professional dancers until the morning.
Newspapers quoted the groom’s father as saying he decided to have his son marry because he wanted to collect “as much wedding presents as possible”.
“He said that he had given wedding presents to hundreds of the villagers and it was time to get them back,” a resident said.
