Chief Superintendent Yitbarach Avraham was appointed Deputy Commander of the Netanya Police Station, one of the largest stations in Israel’s Central District, and became the first senior-level officer in the Israel Police to come from the Ethiopian community.
For the first time in Israeli history, a member of the Ethiopian community was appointed as a senior-level officer in the Israel Police today (Friday). Yitbarach (Mevorach) Avraham was promoted to Chief Superintendent and will serve as Deputy Commander of the Netanya Police Station, one of the largest and busiest stations in Israel’s Central District.
Avraham has previously served in several senior-level positions in the Israel Police, the last of which was Commander of the Sadot Police Station. His colleagues explained that he is considered a very thorough and appreciated officer.
Avraham’s exceptional qualities stood out during the wave of demonstrations organized by Ethiopian youth in Israel, who protested against police brutality, and successfully spearheaded a project to improve relations between the Israel Police and the Ethiopian community.
