The African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM) said it will launch a probe into the death of 14 civilians killed by Ethiopian troops in Wardinle village in Southern Somalia on Sunday.
The AMISOM said, it takes serious note of the civilian death & has commenced investigations and the findings will be made public in cooperation with the federal government of Somalia.
In a Twitter post, the AU mission has received reports of alleged civilians killed during an offensive between its Ethiopian troops and Al-Shabaab in Wardinle village of Bay region.
AMISOM troops are bound by African Union rules of engagement to minimize civilian casualties in all operations & this must be adhered to.
The AMISOM report comes day after Ethiopian forces serving under the mission have committed a mass murder in Wardinle area, 37Km west of Baidoa town on Sunday afternoon.
